United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan has received a new grant from the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council. The grant, titled Access to Faith Communities, will promote and support inclusion for
those with developmental disabilities that face challenges with access to community life. Those with disabilities often seek the activities, relationships, social support and spiritual guidance offered by faith-based communities. Access to Faith Communities will combine these needs with resources from mosques, synagogues and churches to find ways to encourage inclusion. Participants will explore a range of topics from the history of disabilities and cultures to personal stories and struggles. The series of workshops will take place in Lansing from October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011. For more information about Access to Faith Communities, contact Glenn Ashley at 800-828-2714.
