Lasting relationships

. February 5, 2013.

and sisters will have the longest-lasting relationship with a sibling who has special needs. While siblings often experience the same unique concerns and joys parents do, they rarely have the opportunity to share experiences and issues with other siblings of special needs children. Sibshops are designed for children ages 8 through 13 who have brothers and sisters with special needs. Children will have an opportunity to meet other brothers and sisters of children with special needs, talk with others siblings and learn more about disabilities and services those with disabilities receive, as well as have fun in a recreational setting. Sibshops are run by professionally trained individuals who share a personal understanding
of the impact a child's special needs can have on brothers and sisters. Sibshops are held from 10am to 1pm at The Alternate Learning Center at 3939 Wrenwood in Toledo.

Sibshops are free and open to the public on October 8, November 5, January 7, February 4 and March 3. For more info or to register contact Wendy Smenner at 419-471-0384.
