Spielberg, Lucas, Scorsese, Coppola: they’re all household names and celebrated filmmakers. What child hasn’t at some point dreamed of sitting in the director’s chair? Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theater is giving youngsters with an eye for the silver screen just that chance. Young Filmmakers’ Camp
2010 offers two five-day courses: “Intro to Filmmaking,” from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on August 2-6 or August 9-13, for 5th-8th graders to learn the basics of producing, directing, and editing with state of the art software and “Intermediate Filmmaking,” from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on August 16-20, recommended for 9th-12th graders to explore in-depth levels of pre-production, shooting, and editing. The finished films from both courses will be shown at a free, public screening at the Michigan Theater on Sunday, August 28 at 1 p.m. Students will also receive a DVD of their project.
