World Exchange is a nonprofit educational organization that is currently seeking families or couples who would like to provide a welcoming home for foreign exchange students visiting the United States from France. The New York home branch of World Exchange has been pairing students and host families since 1985, and this is the sixth hosting season for the organization’s Michigan branch, which is based in Kalamazoo. The 15 – 20 high school aged students will be arriving on August 1 and staying 19 days, eager to experience American life, food, language, and culture in a fun and educational way. Host families are required to provide a bed, daily meals, and time for their visiting student to experience life in the U.S. The students arrive with plenty of pocket money, are fully insured, and are reasonably proficient in English. “Our hope is for the French teens to connect with other teens in or near their host families so that both can understand our two cultures,” said World Exchange Michigan program director, Laurie Vanderlip.
