Teenagers often use headphones, blaring their tunes, to escape from reality. What kind of damage does it cause? Hearing loss is on the rise with youth and noise-induced damage effects over 12 million people in the U.S. Taking preventative efforts, House Research Institute with its three month nationwide campaign, It’s How You Listen That Counts spreads its message of prevention with online platforms including Pandora (mobile Internet radio), Hulu.com, Youtube and Facebook. The organization’s latest efforts aims to get teens involved with a t-shirt design competition. Teens are asked to submit a design promoting hearing loss prevention at www.earbud.org through Monday, October 24. The designs will then be uploaded to Facebook (www.facebook.com/HouseResearch) where fans can vote for their favorite style. Winners will be announced November 30.
