Pedaling for pleasure

Bicycling is the perfect year-round family activity. It promotes fi tness, gets everyone outside, teaches cooperation and perseverance, and can bring children and parents to see the area in a whole new intimate way. But there’s no time for a ride like the fall, with its crisp weather and dazzling foliage. And for beginning cyclists and veterans alike, an organized outing like Bike Ypsi’s Fall Ride is the perfect way to experience the sport with a like-minded community. This year’s Fall Ride is on Sunday, October 10, and starts and ends at the Corner Brewery. Routes of 15 and 30 miles are planned, incorporating parts of Washtenaw County’s partially completed Border to Border Trail. Riders are free to go at their own pace and soak up the scenery, and to ride alone or in groups. Helmets of course are recommended for all cyclists at all times, but they’re mandatory for riders 16 and under! Free. 1-3 p.m. Corner Brewery, 720 Norris St, Ypsilanti. bike.ypsi.org
