Four local restaurants have partnered with the Office of Sustainability and Innovations (OSI) to launch the Ann Arbor Reduce, Reuse, Return (A2R3) Reusable Container Pilot Program. This program works towards helping advance the A2ZERO goal of carbon neutrality.
The aim of the program is to help reduce the amount of waste that is produced by restaurants within our community. Restaurants will be using reusable take-out containers rather than disposable ones. Containers will be provided by A2ZERO. Participating restaurants are Detroit Street Filling Station, El Harissa, Miss Kim, and Zingerman’s Delicatessen.
Throughout the month of June, select dishes in take-out and delivery orders from the four restaurants will be served in reusable containers. If you receive a meal in one of these containers, simply wash the container and return it to the restaurant. You’ll be able to receive a discount on a future order by doing this.
The program will become a permanent fixture within the community. The A2R3 will be collecting feedback from both customers and restaurants to help build and reshape the program. The information collection will happen at the end of the program.
This program is part of the Inaugural Ann Arbor Green Fare, which was June 1 to 6. The aim of the Green Fare is to give the community a chance to discover and celebrate locally sourced food, plant-based cuisine, and beverages, and provide sustainable approaches to carry out and other business operations.
