Chelsea Area Festivals and Events has reimagined their Hometown Holiday events to keep the community safe. This year, gingerbread kits can be picked up to decorate cookies at home.
Hometown Holiday is Chelsea’s annual festive, fun-filled celebration to kick off the holiday season. This year, Chelsea Area Festival and Events (CAFE) have reimagined the Hometown Holidays to ensure the safety of the community. However, community members can still enjoy a chance to create adorable Gingerbread people!
The popular Pam Radcliffe Gingerbread workshop has been modified so that the community can pick up gingerbread kits to decorate gingerbread cookies at home. In addition to a safe, drive-thru distribution plan for the community, kits have also been provided to WISD Chelsea Young Adult Classroom students and delivered to St. Louis Center, Silver Maples, and Chelsea Retirement Community.
Santa’s helpers at Lakehouse Bakery have put together the gingerbread kits for everyone to enjoy. Each kit will contain four gingerbread people and a pastry bag with Royal icing, and 3 soufflé cups with red, white, and green nonpareils, candy eyes, and red dots. Kit distribution with be done on a first come basis, with one kit per household. Thanks to a grant provided to the event, the kits are free for participants to enjoy!
For those who want to pick up their own kit, distribution will take place from noon until 2pm on Sunday, December 20 at Palmer Commons. Palmer Commons will have a one way traffic flow, please enter through the north entrance and exit through the south.
Be sure to come grab a kit before they disappear!
