As the weather starts to warm up and spring break nears closer, is time to start thinking about how you want to spend your days. Just because you are not going on an extravagant vacation, does not mean you have to sit at home. There are several enriching opportunities for children and families to do during a spring staycation.
Saturday, March 25
This spring’s event explores the sensory experience of the ancient mediterranean through each of the five senses.
The day includes Roman food tastings, object handling, instrument building, and even a live performance of ancient music! There will be a variety of hands-on activities for kids of all ages. Don’t miss this unique event that is ‘stinky, noisy, and fun’ for the whole family!

Critters Up Close
This is a monthly series that features live animals visiting from the Leslie Science & Nature Center. meet different animals up-close and enjoy a hands-on activity. Themes and animals change each month!

This family dance will take place at the Summit on the Park Banquet Center. The bunny will be available for pictures for the first hour of the event and will be on the dance floor for the last hour! Every family member will need a ticket to attend regardless of age.

Friday, March 31
Campfires, marshmallows, and stories are some of the best things ever! The Leslie Science and Nature Center will provide the outdoor campfire and traditional s’mores ingredients, you supply the rest! Spring Break Camp at Howell Nature Center
Days full of fun activities such as archery, GaGa Ball, arts-n-crafts, crazy games, zip line, wildlife programs or many more will be offered at this camp. It is a “Camper’s Choice” format where campers can pick how they want to spend their week. Before and after care will be available.
$45 daily, $200 weekly

The University of Michigan Museum of Natural History has a full roster of planetarium shows, exhibits, and hands-on activities geared towards kids.

Spring Break Camp at Leslie Science & Nature Center
