Chelsea Party Loft, a new event space for tween and teen birthdays, graduations, and other celebrations, will open on March 1 in the Chelsea Village Plaza at 1115 S. Main Street. The venue offers a modern, flexible space with top amenities, perfect for dance parties, hangouts, and themed events.
Chelsea Party Loft was created by local parent and former Middle School PTO President, Greg Gattuso, to address the lack of birthday party venues for teens and tweens.
“As a parent, I have been to or booked children’s parties all over Washtenaw County,” said Gattuso. “But as my son grew older, I noticed he and his friends were becoming less interested in the traditional options like movies, bowling and trampoline parks.”

Chelsea Party Loft will offer a spacious event room with customizable layouts for up to 60 people. It features DJ sound and lighting systems, a 360° video booth with social media integration for unique content and an exclusive tiki-themed parent lounge. Conveniently located near I-94 with free parking, it’s easily accessible from surrounding areas like Chelsea, Dexter, Ann Arbor and more.
“The school dance without the school”
Gattuso was inspired to open the Chelsea Party Loft after he organized a school dance at Ann Arbor’s Slauson Middle School in 2023, the first one since the COVID lockdown. While 200 students were expected to attend, more than 400 showed up.
“As I watched the kids dancing, socializing and having fun, I thought to myself, what if we could recreate this experience on a smaller scale for birthdays and other special occasions, and make it stress-free for parents to handle all of the details,” said Gattuso. “That’s when the lightbulb went off, and we created Chelsea Party Loft – the school dance without the school.”
While at WCC, he teamed up with a mentor from the Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and became a finalist in the Entrepreneurship Center’s annual Pitch competition.
“We wanted to create a place where young people can come together, have fun and celebrate in a space that feels their own,” said Gattuso. “We also want to provide value for parents who face the daunting task of creating memorable milestone events for hard-to-please tweens and teens.”
