Krista Parker and Stephanie Miller became fast friends in their children’s dance class when they learned that they were both originally Minnesotans. They quickly bonded over shared Midwestern experiences like Jello fluff and Frog-Eye salad. Upon moving to Ann Arbor, they found that the area needed more places for families to come together and play.

“Coming from bigger cities where play cafes are plentiful, we saw a community need for a space where parents of small children could come for a break and socialization for both caregiver and child,” Parker said. “The first few years with a little one are some of the most stressful, exhausting and exciting years. We wanted to be able to have a space for those caregivers in particular who are in that chapter of their lives.”
The two moms combined their talents and opened Hide and Seek, a Play Boutique in February 2025. Parker has a degree in communications and photography, and Miller has a Masters in child development and is a licensed clinical social worker. Parker had previously lived and worked in Los Angeles before moving to Ann Arbor, and Miller had previously lived and worked in Chicago and Milwaukee.
“Hide and Seek is not just a play café, but also a community space that offers birthday parties, caregiver and me classes, sensory-friendly kids haircuts, after school art classes, seasonal events and more,” Parker said.

They see their space as a place where parents, grandparents, nannies and caregivers can bring their young charges for a safe, clean and inclusive play time. They want to embrace local families with children of all ages, needs and abilities.
“Our business helps the community by providing a one-stop shop for busy caregivers who need a break,” Parker said. “Families can entertain their children, grab a coffee, schedule a haircut and book a class, all in one space. We plan to continue to grow and learn from our clients so that we can offer new and evolving services and support for area families.”
