Where to Cut Your Own Christmas Trees in the Ann Arbor Area

What could be more magical than hiking around a Christmas tree farm debating about the best tree, sawing it down as a family, and finally getting your tree into your home to decorate it with a mug of hot chocolate.

In the Ann Arbor area, there are several Christmas Tree farms that allow families to partake in this Christmas tradition. Bundle up hop in the car, and drive to one of these beautiful farms to find and cut down your Christmas tree for this holiday season. 

Urquhart’s Tree Farm

At Urquhart’s Tree Farm there is a large variety of you-cut Christmas trees. Their main holiday trees are Fraser Firs, Concolor Firs, Blue Spruces and White Spruces, but they also carry a small number of other tree types. When you arrive, Urquhart’s Tree Farm encourages you to meet with one of their greeters so you know where to start your tree hunting journey. They will also provide you with a saw and a tree cart if you need one. Once you find the perfect tree, you are encouraged to find the nearest baling station where a tree handler will help shake the tree to remove loose needles and wrap it for the trip home.

Westman’s Tree Farm

Westman’s Christmas tree farm has been providing families with the you-cut Christmas tree experience since 1965. They offer Norway Spruces, Canaan Firs and Blue Spruce Trees mostly ranging from 5-8 feet tall. Westman’s Tree Farm provides customers with saws, twine to secure your tree to your car, and assistance to operate a bailer and shaker and a pin stand drill. They encourage customers to bring cash or check, as they don’t take credit cards. Westman’s Tree Farm also considers itself senior friendly and accessible, as their staff can assist in any part of the process needed.

Hillside Christmas Tree Farm  

Hillside Christmas Tree Farm has a selection of tree varieties including Canaan, Korean, Concolor, Balsam Firs, Colorado Blue and Black Hills Spruce. They offer tiny trees for your little ones in their “Tot Lot” as well as trees all the way up to over 10 feet tall. Hillside Christmas Tree Farm also offers free wagon rides out to find your tree. Once you find the perfect tree, Hillside offers saws for customers to borrow, and will help you shake and clean your tree for free, and then wrap and bail it for a small charge of $2. Hillside Christmas Tree Farm does not accept credit cards, so make sure to remember your cash or check!

Arend Tree Farms

Arend Tree Farms is a family owned Christmas Tree farm that has been around for over 80 years. In 2006, John Arend who started the family business retired at 93 and passed the business on to his son and grandchildren. At Arend Tree Farms they offer Fraser Firs, Douglas Firs, Canaan Trees, White Spruce Trees, Serbian Spruce Trees and more. They have trees ranging from 4 feet tall to over 10 feet tall. Arend Tree Farms offer balers and shakers to help with easy transportation of your tree back to your home.
