Gearing up for summer? With the end of the school year approaching, we’ve rounded up a comprehensive list of local Ann Arbor, Saline, Dexter, Ypsi, and all of Washtenaw County’s favorite summer camps!  Choosing the best camp for your child can be a hard process; this article can help.

Sleepaway Camps in Michigan

  • Camp Walden (Cheboygan)
      • Founded in 1959, Waldeen is a coef overnight camp for campers entering 2nd through 11th grade. Located in Northern Michigan’s Lower Peninsula on a pristine 100 acres outside of the town of Cheboygan, Walden stretches along Long Lake, a clear, spring-fed body of water.
      • Early registration completed before December 15, 2021 will get you an additional $200 off!

        • Full season (7 weeks, June 20-August 6) $9,000
        • 1st session (4 weeks, June 20-July 16) $6,000
        • 2nd session (3 weeks, July 18-August 6) $4,800 
        • Mini Session I (2 weeks, June 20-July 2) $3,600 → Campers entering 2nd-6th grade or first time capers entering 7th and 8th grade only

  • Black River Farm and Ranch (Croswell)
      • From riding and grooming horses, bottle feeding a new calf or baby goat to boating on Lake lorely, swimming in a horse-shaped heated pool Black River Farm and Ranch offers a one-of-a-kind sleepaway camp for girls age 6-15.
      • Early registration discounts
        • November 1st – December 15th – 10% off full price tuition
        • December 16th – January 31st – 5% off full price tuition

        • 1st session: Starter Camp (June 19-June 22) $925 *required for 1st year campers and those less than 10 years old
        • 2nd session: June 26-July 2 (one week $1,825)
        • 3rd session: July 3 – July 16 (two weeks $3,100)
        • 4th session: July 17-July 30 (two weeks $3,100)
        • 5th session: July 31-August 13 (two weeks $3,100) 
        • 6th session: August 14-August 20 (one week $1,825)
        • Any four weeks – $5,890 (additional 5% off 2 week sessions) Campers can combine sessions for a 3 or 4 week stay, however they do not allow campers to stay overnight at camp between session 2&3 or 5&6.

  • Circle Pines Summer Camp (Delton) 
      • A summer camp aimed to create independent, thoughtful, and socially and environmentally conscious young children that promotes peace, social justice, environmental stewardship, and cooperation, Circle Pines is a wonderful place for kids ages 7-15.

        • Sessions 1 : July 3-16, $1,300 (this is a 2 week session with a 1 week option for $750)
        • Session 2: July 17-23, $700 (this is a 1 week session)

  • Camp Lookout (Frankfort)
      • Camp Lookout looks to empower young people ages 7-17 through experiential learning by making a positive impact on each member of the community and fostering an imaginative environment for kids to play and explore.

      • A great way to unplug and experience the magic of overnight camp for those ages 4-16, this camp offers a nurturing, genuine, and enthusiastic staff from all over the world.

  • Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (Twin Lake)
      • Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp is a summer school of the arts for kids entering grades 5-12 on a 1,600 acre campus in Michigan’s Manistee National Forest.

      • Set on 360 wooded acres and a mile of private Lake Michigan shoreline, Camp Miniwanca is a breathtaking and inspiring camp setting for kids entering grades 3-12, providing a perfect setting for swimming, sailing, and canoeing.

  • Camp Carvela (Traverse City)
