A Review of the Newly Opened Chelsea Park

I live a block away from the new park in Chelsea—Holmes Family Park—and I’m so happy that it finally opened! It’s really expansive, with multiple courts, a skate-park, climbing walls, a field, hammocks and large wooden swings.

There’s a fire pit for the upcoming cold months, a percussion area for younger children and different types of tables and chairs to sit in. Overall, it’s an amazing addition to the neighborhood. It had something to offer people of all ages, and it’s been busy since it opened. The skate-park is especially popular, with kids on skateboards, scooters, bikes and roller skates.

Accesibility

It’s accessible as well. There are paved paths that are easy to move through, and it’s very flat. They are still updating things occasionally, so watch out for that. They installed the bike parking racks after opening, and I’ve been there when they were fixing up the climbing wall as well. The skate-park is very wide, and the courts are level.

This park mostly caters to slightly older children. The area for younger kids is smaller. I do believe Chelsea’s older kids really need something like this. It’s so nice seeing the courts always full, and the climbing walls in use.

This park was decided by kids for kids. The designs were discussed with the middle and high school children in Chelsea, so they had a say. You can see the difference. The park is usually full, and there is something for everyone.

My daughter is still not walking, so we spend most of our time on the field or hammocks. The swings are really lovely too, and she likes them a lot. When I’m looking for a place for her to roam around more, I go to Timber Town. However, I think she’ll grow and unlock new areas of the park, which is so exciting.

It’s well maintained too. I’ve seen them mowing the grass and coming to check over everything. Hopefully the maintenance will continue so we can keep this community park nice.

I’m really excited to see where florals are added, and how the park looks as the trees grow. I think that will really add to it, and make the view from the field even more spectacular.
