If you still have your Christmas tree hanging around and are looking to get rid of it, there are a few drop-off sites available in Ann Arbor. You’ll have until January 18 to drop the dree at the select drop sites.
Still have that pesky Christmas tree in your yard? Haven’t taken the holiday tree down just yet? The City of Ann Arbor is providing residents with four free drop-off locations for undecorated Christmas trees through Monday, January 18.
Please be sure to remove all stands, nails, ornaments, tinsel, and plastic before leaving the trees at the drop-off site. Patrons will be able to drop off trees between the hours of 6am and 10pm only.
- Southeast Area Park located on Ellsworth at Platt. Trees may be left at the dirt lot north of the basketball courts.
- West Park parking lot off Chapin near West Huron Street.
- Gallup Boat Launch parking lot (not the Gallup Livery), entrance on the southeast side of Geddes Road, east of Huron Parkway.
- Olson Park parking lot, 1515 Dhu Varren Road, near Pontiac Trail.
Trees left at the above drop off sites will be chipped into mulch or composed. Any metal, glass, or plastic ornaments left on the tree can ruin the processing equipment, harm the operators, and spoil the landscaping mulch. Be sure to place wreaths and evergreen roping inside trash carts as these items are generally have plastic or wire backing.
After January 18, Christmas trees will need to be cut, bundled, and saved until the city’s compost collection services resumes in April.
