Patrons are able to create a fun night at home with a Mardi Gras Party Pack to help keep SafeHouse Center afloat.Â
In January 2021 alone, the SafeHouse Center received calls from 186 survivors who were in need of emergency shelter. The SafeHouse Centerprovides free food and confidential services and shelter to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and has been doing this for 47 years in Washtenaw County. Each year, the SafeHouse Center helps close to 5,000 survivors. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an uptick in domestic violence related calls. With only 20 rooms and 50 beds, the SafeHouse Center has provided help to people in desparate need.
This week, we can return the favor and help support our SafeHouse Center. Each Mardi Gras pack will help families create a fun night at home. Each pack includes a homemade King Cake from the Baker’s Nook in Saline, a family friendly Mardi Gras Activity (such as decorating a mask, crown, and more), and 4 Hurricane cocktails crafted by the experts at The Last Word.
You can also make it a turnkey night and add a Mardi Gras dinner for four. This includes Po Boys, red beans and rice, and cornbread. Additionally, you can find other options including New Orleans food, The Last Word items, and kids meal additions.
Orders can be placed through The Last Word’s online ordering service. Patrons can pick any day for pickup, but all pickups will happen on February 16, between 4pm and 7pm.Â
Come support local businesses and organizations with delicious food and an at-home night of fun!
