Nothing says Halloween like apple orchards, hayrides and pumpkin picking. And when you live in the Ann Arbor area, there's no shortage of any of those things when the trees start changing color. So what are you waiting for? Rake up the leaves, get your halloween costumes ready and jump into some of these fall activities your family will love.

Thousands of people will crowd downtown
South Lyon for the town’s largest
annual event featuring activities for all
ages. Check out movie nights at the historic
Lyon Theater downtown, listen to
live music and enjoy children’s entertainment.
Pumpkinfest is free and shuttles
are available from parking areas to bring

Appleumpkin
Festival & Westfest

Who can resist a fall festival with a name
like Appleumpkin? This 18th annual
event is free and located in downtown
Tecumseh featuring an antiques fair,
arts and crafts show and live entertainment.
Little ones are invited to make a free scarecrow and enjoy other
free children’s activities and older kids
and adults can visit the haunted house.

sixth annual Fall Fest and Craft Show
at St. Mary’s Church in Chelsea. Fortyseven
crafters and artists will sell their

bake sale and enter in a raffle to win

Want to try your hand at shelling
corn? Kids can do this and more at the
Fall Harvest Celebration at Parker Mill.
Hosted by the Washtenaw County Parks
and Recreation Commission, the celebration
will also invite kids to learn about
wild nut harvesting and
see and taste several
varieties of apples.

haunts” will feature a guided hike
through Black Pond Woods where costumed
characters bring plants and
animals to life through skits and
songs. Children will enjoy

required; drop-ins are welcome!

Halloween Fun

Advance tickets are required (and worth
it!) for this kid-friendly event where
guests can make cider, decorate doughnuts
and create “spooky” crafts, all
designed to inspire the Halloween spirit
in your family. Children can also meet
animals from the Great Lakes Zoological
Society. Tickets are available at
the park office for $6 per child,
under age 1 free, and $3 per
adult. Cider, doughnuts and
a hayride are included in
admission. Events take place
at 10am and 1pm.
