Fun summer events for the whole family
It’s almost July, which means it’s time to start looking for the best Fourth of July events going on in Washtenaw County! Check out our list of some fun summer events going on near you.
Shelby Township, New Boston, Dexter
June 30-July 3
There will be fireworks at the Huron-Clinton Metroparks for four nights in a row. The first night is at Stony Creek, the second is at Willow Metropark, the third is at Hudson Mills, and the last night of fireworks is at Lake Erie Metropark.
Saturday, June 29 at 10pm
Belleville will be having a fireworks display at Beck Ballfields on Beck Road in Belleville.
Faith Baptist Church Fireworks
Thursday, July 4 at dusk
Faith Baptist Church of Chelsea will be having free fireworks, as well as food, music, and preaching.
Whitmore Lakes Fireworks
Saturday, July 6 at 10pm
Whitmore Lakes is hosting several Fourth of July events, including Fun Runs on June 29, the Kiwanis parade on July 4, and music and fun at the lake where fireworks will be on display.
Liberty School Fireworks
Thursday, July 4 at 8pm-11pm
Head over to Liberty School in Saline to watch their fireworks display! It will be on the Crabtree Field, and there will also be DJ music and a bounce house.
Manchester Men’s Club Fireworks
Wednesday, July 3 at dusk
Manchester Men’s Club will be holding a fireworks display at Carr Park. Beer tents open at 8pm, and live local bands will perform starting at 9pm. There will be lots of treats available as well!
Jaycees Fourth of July Parade
Thursday, July 4 at 10am
Grab the whole family and head to downtown Ann Arbor to watch the parade put on by the Ann Arbor Jaycees.
Ypsi Fourth of July Parade
Thursday, July 4 at 11am
The parade will start at Mansfield, go down Cross Street, and will end in Depot Town. Afterwards, stop at any of Depot Town’s awesome restaurants for lunch!
Thursday, July 4 10:30am-12pm
Ypsilanti District Library will be having a Bookmobile and Bikes Parade on the fourth! Decorate a bike or wagon and join the Ypsi Independence Day Parade.
Whitmore Lake Parade
Thursday, July 4 at 10am
Start the day off by bringing the family to Whitmore Lake where the parade will be, starting at Barker Road. The theme is “America’s Family – Heart of Our Community.” Afterwards, starting at noon, go to the Community Center to enjoy root beer floats!
Top of the Park Festival
July 2-July 7
The Ann Arbor Summer Festival is hosting several events at the Top of the Park, including KidZone tents, musical performers, and movie showings such as Crazy Rich Asians.
Thursday, July 4 at 8:15am
Begin your Fourth of July with 5K, 1 mile, or Kids’ Dash running events in downtown Ann Arbor. There will be a Ray’s hot dog eating contest, too!
Fourth of July Chicken BBQ
Thursday, July 4 11am-4pm
Chelsea American Legion will have chicken BBQ on the Fourth of July as a benefit for the American Legion.
Milan Heads Up Series
Friday, July 5 at Dusk
Milan is hosting the Friday Night Heads Up Series where Heads Up cars from all over come to race. This event will take place at the Milan Dragway. It costs $20 per person and kids 12 and under are free.
