Something fun for everyone is coming to Milan courtesy of Adventure Ink: a mini-convention for every fan.
Not only does the Milan Mini-Con aim to be accessible to all, this day of pop culture entertainment also benefits Unique Care Connect. This nonprofit provides programs and services for the special needs community in and around Ann Arbor.
An event designed for everyone
βOne of Adventure Ink’s goals is to enable people to celebrate the things they love with others who share those passions, and we want to make this opportunity as accessible as possible,β said co-owner Laura Harvey.
On Saturday, Sept. 9, fromΒ 12-8 p.m. at the Center (Riverbank Center, 45 Neckel Court, Milan), the Milan Mini-Con offers an inclusive fan experience for $10 per person (children 5 and under are free). Vendors will close-up shop by 6 p.m, so if youβre looking for unique gifts and fun collectibles, make sure you get there before then.
Attendees can enjoy video games curated by Dead State Pavilion (known for their gaming room at Youmacon in Detroit), a board gaming room, unique merchandise and collectibles by local, independent vendors, food truck specialties and more, including a portrait booth by Pixie Light Photography.
A Space for all characters to take a break
Professional cosplayers will join the festivities and visitors are invited to wear their own (no prop weapons, please).
The event will also feature a sensory room designed to offer a calming sanctuary for those who need it. Filled with cozy seats and tactile diversions in gentle lighting, the space is meant as a place of respite for the well-being of everyone in attendance.
βWe’re excited to have Unique Care Connect providing their expertise,β Harvey said. βBig events like these can be very overwhelming for anyone.β
