Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan is supporting youth and families this season by partnering with Volunteers of America Michigan. Through the VOAMI’s Heart of the Holidays initiative, they will provide toys, clothing and more to youth enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan’s programs.
This season, they are helping even more children than in the past by partnering with. local social service agencies. The goal is to serve at least 200 youth and their families. They are seeking community assistance through Dec. 15.
VOAMI has been helping children through their holiday program for 20 years.
To assist people in supporting the Heart of the Holidays program, the organizations have listed some ways for people to help in a recent press release:
1. Sponsor A Child
Gather friends, family, or coworkers together and create a
‘Sponsor’ account. Select one or multiple families and shop from their wish list to create a life-long impact on the recipient’s children.
2. Donate directly
Every dollar counts when it comes to ensuring everyone has the
Christmas they deserve. Make a one-time donation to help provide winter clothing, meals, gifts and relief to families who need help the most.
3. Share with friends and family.
This program will take all hands-on deck to be
successful. The more people that get involved, the more children that will be cared for this holiday season.
