The HighScope Educational Research Foundation is partnering with Gretchen’s House to reopen the HighScope Demonstration Preschool on HighScope’s Ypsilanti Campus. Gretchen’s House @ HighScope will open on September 27 for sixteen children who will turn four by December 1, 2021.
HighScope’s Demonstration Preschool has been a staple on the campus since 1971. For the first time in the Foundation’s history, the campus took a gap year for the 2020-2021 school year. Together, Gretchen’s House and HighScope hope to uphold high-quality early learning as a way of emphasizing the importance for early childhood learning and community.
“Gretchen’s House has been a valued HighScope partner for many years and will be a natural fit for the Demonstration Preschool,” says HighScope president, Dr. Alejandra Barraza. “Many of their locations are HighScope Accredited centers with certified teachers, and all their classroom teachers receive ongoing HighScope training and coaching. Their dedication to implementing the HighScope Curriculum to fidelity will be put into action at Gretchen’s House @ HighScope. We could not be more excited to welcome them to our campus.”
Gretchen’s House @ HighScope is actively taking applications for children who turn four by December 21, 2021. The Great Start Readiness Program aims to be an option for children the year before they enter kindergarten. This will help them get a “great start” to their educational journey. The program is free to families who qualify. Families who are interested in the program should complete an interest form, which is found here.
Those interested in signing their child up for Gretchen’s House @ HighScope can attend the open house on August 19, from 4:40 to 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome.
