What makes life worth living? For Joan M. Broggi, the answer to that question is family. On Friday, January 7, Broggi leads a lecture and signs her book “Bursting with Joy–Discovering Universal Truths Through Our Special Son” at the Downtown location of the Ann Arbor District Library. Ms. Broggi is a substitute special education teacher and her son, Alex, is an epileptic. Experiencing grand mal seizures throughout his life has left him physically 19, but mentally at an eight year old’s level. Alex’s innate wisdom and love for family and friends have inspired the author. At Alex’s high school graduation she experienced the love bestowed on Alex by his friends and educators and was moved to write “Bursting with Joy.”
Part of the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Reads Lecture Series, the program begins at 7pm. 343 South Fifth Ave. 734-327-4555. www.aadl.org. www.aaypsireads.org.
