The Autism Society of Michigan (ASM) and Ypsilanti’s Autism Collaborative Center (ACC) are at it again with assistance for families and professionals interacting with individuals on the autism spectrum with its 2012 Focus Workshop series. The series of three workshops, designed to assist parents, educators and community service providers, will begin on Thursday, February 23, with A Workshop for Paraprofessionals & Direct Care Staff: How to Implement Support for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The workshop will discuss current research on the autism spectrum as well as supplying participants with an arsenal of visual, social and sensory supports and strategies from 9:30am-3:30pm at the ACC. Registration for Homeschooling for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder on March 22 and Transition to High School and the Implementation of a Personal Curriculum on April 26 is currently open. Training is $20 for ASM members and $25 for non-members.
