Theatre NOVA Presents the Play of the Month Series

Theatre NOVA plans virtual play series for everyone to enjoy from the safety of their homes. Come experience plays by local playwrights and performed by local actors!

Theatre NOVA, Ann Arbor’s professional theatre with an exclusive focus on new plays and playwrights, presents its new Play of the Month Zoom Play Series. The series will feature plays written specifically for the Zoom format each month.

Based on the success of their Zoom Play Series Festival in October 2020, Theatre NOVA will present a new short play each month, from January until April 2021. These short plays will run about 20 to 40 minutes long each. Additionally, the series will keep with the Theatre NOVA mission to raise awareness of the value and excitement of new plays and playwrights. The first play to open the series will be β€œWhatcha Doin?” by Jacquelyn Priskorn. The show will be performed live on Wednesday, January 27 and will be available on video for the month of February.

β€œWhatcha Doin?” centers on a film student interviewing a former child star turned voice actor for a documentary project. Thrilled to witness Marnie’s work-from-home recording studio in action, Raven is surprised to learn about the difficulties Marnie had while portraying the goofy, unattractive kid on a TV series. But even more so, Raven is curious about why Marnie is now unable to leave her home. Theatre NOVA Producing Artistic Director Diane Hill will direct β€œWhatcha Doin?” and features Kate Stark and Megan Wesner.

Tickets are on sale for $10 each month, or $30 for a series pass. The series pass will admit ticket holders to a new play each month, January through April 2021. For more information, visit Theatre NOVA’s website. All proceeds will benefit Theatre NOVA’s ongoing efforts to stay alive through the pandemic.
