A barking good time

Looking for someone to take care of the spiky, scaly or fluffy members of your family? Well there's a new pet doctor in town — actually, there are two. Veterinarians Dr. Gretchen Hui and Dr. Stacey Weinrick opened up shop on the north side of Ann Arbor this fall, joining forces to begin a new vet practice after working well together years ago in the Ann Arbor area."It's been fun to see everyone again," says Hui, co-owner of the new City Pets Veterinary Clinic. City Pets, which opened in September,
specializes in high quality, compassionate medical and surgical care for small and exotic animals. While seeing many dogs and cats, the clinic also cares for more exotic pets including hedgehogs and reptiles.

"There's not a lot of vets up on the north side of Ann Arbor," says Hui, who said business is "so far so good. It's been fun. We're just trying to get the word out and let people know," she explains. While Hui loves working with animals (at home she has two dogs, two cats and a turtle — all rescued animals), she also says working with people is one of the best parts of her job."That's a big part that people forget about," she says. "It's nice getting to know the whole family and making decisions together about pets' care. People really love their pets – they're a big part of their family which I love."
