Over the years there has been a plethora of research conducted on ‘helicopter’ parenting, a term used to describe parents who hover over their children micromanaging their lives. While parents should encourage their children to do well in school and extracurricular activities, the question remains; how much is too much? The Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Reads program continues their film and discussion series with Education Makes Life Worth Living: Race to Nowhere. The 2009 documentary, Race to Nowhere, addresses the status of education methods in the U.S. and discusses
parental involvement. Parents, educators and experts are all invited on Friday, February 11, from 6:30 to 8:30pm to attend the special screening and community discussion to immediately follow.
