Giant fun onstage

Ann Arbor kids can once again get a satisfying taste of live, professional theater, as the Wild Swan Theater begins its 31st season this month. Wild Swan has been delighting audiences since 1980 with its inventive, accessible, family-friendly productions, and the new season promises to carry on the tradition. Things start growing with Jack and the Beanstalk, on Thursday, October 21. You know the story, and your kids will too—poor Jack is strapped for cash, but unwisely trades his cow for magic beans. Adventure ensues. But Wild Swan puts a pleasing, humorous, kid-centric spin on this classic tale, offering a giant who is more humorous than threatening, and promising to reunite Jack with his long-lost father. It’ll be an experience that children K-6 won’t soon forget. Other upcoming shows include The Firebird, beginning December 9 and A Honey Pot of Pooh Stories, on January 27. All shows are at Washtenaw Community College’s Towsley Auditorium. Thursday, October 21, 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 11 a.m. $3 children under 2. $8 youth and seniors. $12 adults. 4800 E. Huron River Dr. 734-995-0530.
