Taking in sights, and sounds

Music, art, classic cars, and a pet parade are just a few things in store for you at the jam-packed weekend of Chelsea’s Sounds & Sights Festival. Celtic, world fusion, gypsy jazz, and roots rock are part of the musical line-up for the event, which runs from Thursday, July 25 through Saturday, July 27. An Art Market will showcase local and regional artists and crafters, with a full slate of activities in the KidZone, including Crazy Craig Juggling and a visit from Colors the Clown. Car enthusiasts will drool at the Classic Cruisers show, with over 300 cherry autos from around the Midwest. On Saturday, tog out your pet in sports-themed finery and strut with them on the easy-to-follow parade route. And be sure to visit the festival’s first community Chalk Art event, in which participants of all abilities and ages will help transform the black asphalt of Middle Street into a vibrant work of art. The three-day event ends with an outdoor dance party. Free; $5 cover charge for social and entertainment tent evening events. Downtown Chelsea.
