The next generation of jazz

Jazz is one of the great predecessors of rock n’ roll, and a musical genre that has endured countless fads and trends over the last 100 years. Serving as a venue for jazz artists for the last 76 years, Baker’s Keyboard Lounge is the world’s oldest jazz club. To make sure their passion for jazz is passed down to the next generation, Baker’s hosts Kids N Jazz every Sunday afternoon from 3-5 p.m. Kids N Jazz is a public jazz workshop open to students of all ages and skill levels who have any jazz instrument, including vocals, or want to play the piano (which the club furnishes). Kids N Jazz Director Al McKenzie offers instruction in jazz music and instrument training. There is no charge to attend and no limit on the number of participants. Working on a mission to introduce youth to jazz, Kids N Jazz students rehearse several jazz tunes and perform a concert at the end of the season in the spring.
