Saline District Library’s Kaleidoscope-school–age program features a story and a project for school-aged children, grades 1-5. In the class “To: You- From: Me,” children will create their own greeting card with the occasion chosen by them—birthday, holiday, thank-you, anytime, etc. Participants will also learn about this invention that has sent many men and women flocking to their nearest store for every holiday, birthday, or life event to pick up a greeting card. “That whole business of writing stuff down on paper is becoming a lost art,” Paula Schaffner, head of Youth Services for Saline District Library, said. “We are trying to encourage kids to make cards that they can give away to someone for a gift or use as thank-you notes or letters, and to remind them that they all have grandmas.”
