The Michigan Senior Olympics (MSO) is excited to announce that registration is now open for the MSO Summer Games. The games will take place from August 6 to 16 and 22, 2021. Additionally, a few team sports will be scheduled in September. Events will take place throughout Oakland and Macomb Counties, and over 1,000 athletes from all over Michigan will come to compete.
The MSO is a non-profit organization that promotes healthy lifestyles by organizing state games, sports competitions, and health, fitness, and wellness programs for active individuals 50 years and older. The Olympic Games take place every summer and winter. MSO’s vision is to provide all individuals over 50 years of age with programs to enjoy healthy and active lifestyles.

MSO Summer Olympic events include Archery, Badminton, 3v3 Basketball, Billiards, Bowling, Cornhole, Cycling, Disc Golf, Free Throw and 3 point contest, Golf, Pickleball, Powerlifting, 5k and 10K, Powerwalk, Racewalk, Shuffleboard, Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track and Field, Triathlon, and Volleyball. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled to take place Friday, August 6 at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills from 6pm to 8pm. Everyone is welcome to bring their families and enjoy the free event. The event includes the torch arrival ceremony, music by The Shiela Landis Trio, free food courtesy of Detroit BBQ Company, vendor tables, carnival games, and much more!
The events for the MSO are set as the following:
- Opening Ceremony (a free event, open to the community) on Friday, August 6 from 6-8pm at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills
- Celebration of Athletes Dinner on Monday, August 16 at the San Marino Club. Guest speaker, Lomas Brown of the Detroit Lions, will be present. This event is open to the public but tickets must be purchased in advance through the Michigan Senior Olympics office.
- Bowling Fundraiser on Saturday, October 16 at Classic Lanes
- Winter Games will be coming in November 2021.
The deadline to register for the summer games is Friday, July 16, 2021. Sign-up can happen either by phone at 248-608-0250 or by visiting the Michigan Senior Olympics website.
