The Virtual Quilt Show and Sale will support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The SafeHouse Center and the Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild (GAAQG) presents its 16th biennial quilt show on Saturday, August 8. To ensure everyone’s safety, this event is being held virtually.

The sale and show will have more than 300 quilts to be displayed across 6 slideshow galleries. Before COVID hit, the GAAQG would annually sell quilt raffle tickets and hold fundraising events to raise money for SafeHouse Center. In lieu of holding the event in-person, the SafeHouse Center and the GAAQG have decided to move their biennial show virtually.

The quilts that are for sale will be showcased on a slide entitled “SafeHouse Quilts for Sale.” Each quilt will be sold for $250 each, and are sized as 60” x 80” or larger. Buyers will be able to either have quilts shipped to their home or can opt for the safe, local curbside pick-up option. All proceeds from purchased quilts will benefit SafeHouse. Instead of an admission fee, patrons and viewers are encouraged to donate to the SafeHouse Center.

The partnership between the SafeHouse Center and the GAAQG is a 31 year long relationship. Every year, GAAQG members make and donate around 300 quilts to the SafeHouse Center, providing trauma survivors that there are people in the community who care.

“The comfort of having a handmade quilt during a time of trauma shows survivors that there are people who care in our community. We are so thankful for the amazing members of the GAAQG for the years of support,” said Barbara Niess-May, SafeHouse Center Executive Director.

The quilt show and sale will begin on Saturday, August 8, and can be found here.
